Areas of Focus

Vigo County 4-h
In 4‑H, we believe in the power of young people. We see that every child has valuable strengths and real influence to improve the world around us. Based on their interests and guided by adult mentors, youth develop their own pathway in 4‑H. They select from a broad menu of 4‑H programs from showing off their creativity through photography or art, cooking in the kitchen, or training livestock. There are hands-on, learn-by-doing, opportunities for everyone.

Vigo County FFA
Vigo County is home to three active FFA chapters—Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South, and West Vigo—each dedicated to developing future leaders in agriculture. These programs provide students with hands-on learning experiences, community involvement, and opportunities to build leadership and career skills through agricultural education. Together, the Vigo County FFA chapters inspire students to grow personally and professionally while strengthening the connection between local schools, the agricultural community, and the next generation of innovators.

Ag in the Classroom
Many students are disconnected from where their food comes from. Indiana Farm Bureau’s Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) program equips teachers and volunteers with engaging, standards-based lessons so kids understand Indiana agriculture and feel a personal connection with the farmers who feed the world.
AITC is facilitated by Indiana Farm Bureau and coordinated nationwide by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, ensuring trusted, accurate and nonpartisan agricultural education.
